Flying FOOLZ Meeting Minutes
November 11, 2014 Coyote Rojo
Attendees: Ozzie & Carolyn Osborne, Barb & Steve Flynn , Jim & Pat Connell, Dudley Cullum, Dan & Joanne Springer, Vic Chewning, new member Skip D'Ascanio, Steve Bensinger and Sue Vartanian
Meeting called to order 7:35pm.
Treasurer Report – The FOOLZ Club net worth is now $3404.72 as result of our successful September Fly-In which had approximately 70 airplanes, 129 plates + 2 coffees sold, 152 50/50 raffle tickets sold (Carolyn Osborne donated her winnings), and another donation from Carolyn and Ozzie. Expenses included new equipment and tablecloths, so the profit was $613.14.
Holiday Party – Membership discussed various suggestions for a holiday party. Decided to: Have the party at the Cotillion restaurant in Wildwood (same as last year) on either December 8th or December 15th. (Pat Connell will check and report back.) We also decided to give each new 2015 Member (voting, associate or student member) a voucher for a free entree. However, we will not request exclusive access to the restaurant that evening.
Young Eagles – Membership continued to discuss how to help student pilots with their lessons. Discussed contributing $1000 in three parts (in the form of flight time?): $300 for hours of instruction/flight test, $400 for passing ground test, and $300 for soloing. Does EAA contribute as well?
Agreed to host a Kids' Day on February 21st. Joanne to organize, publicize, develop form or application for new scholarship candidates.
Want candidate to be student member of Flying FOOLZ (minimum age 14?) and to work at the Fly-Ins. Other airport work and/or an interview might also be used to evaluate a candidate.
Considering how much help Jack Moore has been as an instructor, it would be nice to make him an honorary member of the club.
Upcoming Fly-outs could include: Winter Haven 11/15, Bartow 12/6, Arcadia 12/6. Club members also plan to attend AOPA/ASF/ASI Safety Seminar in Ocala on 11/13.
