Flying FOOLZ Meeting Minutes

June 9, 2015 Coyote Rojo UPDATED (per comments at July meeting)

[Leadership neglected to reserve the meeting room at Beef O'Brady's so we convened in the dining room at Coyote Rojo. Thanks to Peaches, we have Beef's reserved for August, October, and December.]

Attendees: Barb & Steve Flynn, Karen (Peaches) Jones, Dan Reynolds, Jim & Pat Connell (along with Austin, Hudson, and Zane), Mike & Marilyn Page (along with Mama Page), Jan Tukeva & Gary Emrick, Steve Bensinger & Sue Vartanian

Meeting called to order 7:47pm.

No one had any objections to the previous minutes.

Treasurer Report – The club account currently has $5037.22.

By-Laws changes:

After reviewing our revised Bylaws, Barb Flynn noticed an inconsistency related to the schedule of duties of the Nominating Committee.

Article XI, #3, “Beginning in July, the Nominating Committee shall canvas the current Chapter Officers and Directors to determine if they wish to seek re-election to their current position or be nominated for any other position. The Nominating Committee shall also canvas the Chapter Members of all committees and groups to seek those who may be interested in an elected position. Further, the Nominating Committee shall make themselves available to the Chapter Membership seeking any Chapter Members who may be interested and who are eligible to run for an elected position.”

Since we select the nominating committee in September, they cannot canvass members in July. Motion made and passed that the Bylaws to change the word July to October.

Also realized that the Club is required to have a minimum of three “class 2” directors. At the moment, we have two “class 2” directors: Steve Flynn and Barb Flynn. The president may appoint the third. The membership agreed to appoint Bill Sharpe to be the third Class 2 Director.

New Business:

A motion was made and passed that the club purchase two Young Eagles banners from EAA at $20 each.

If the club intends to provide scholarship monies for student pilots, the club will need an application process (not necessarily an essay). It was suggested that EAA Club 454 in Lakeland might be able to provide assistance or a model application. Steve Bensinger will contact the club president. This club would like to have a process in place by September 26th.

The club received word that Judie Betz (from The Villages) has volunteered to be a Young Eagles pilot.

Meeting adjourned 8:00 pm.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14th 7pm at Coyote Rojo.
