Flying FOOLZ Meeting Minutes
May 10, 2016 at Coyote Rojo
Attendees: Jim & Pat Connell, Steve & Barb Flynn, Karen (Peaches) Jones, Bill & Karen Sharpe, Gary & Jan Tukeva Emrick, and Steve Bensinger & Sue Vartanian
Meeting called to order 7:35pm.
Previous minutes were approved.
Treasurer Report – none since Vic has (finally) made it back to Maine. However, the only recent expense was reimbursing Steve Bensinger $57.40 for the new windsock on Robby's property (Flying W).
No old business to discuss.
New Business:
Peaches reported that she was e-mailed recently by parent(s) who wanted to get a plane ride for their child(ren). She was not sure whether or not she had to tell them to wait for the club's next Young Eagles event. The club has not yet decided whether or not it will have another YE event. (The club needs to make the decision at the July 9th club meeting.)Dan Reynolds is the club's official Young Eagles Coordinator. However, he referred the matter back to Peaches. Eventually, Jim C volunteered to take the child for a ride, but wondered if there was a release form or waiver that the parents should sign before the flight. The group discussed possible sources/templates for such a form.
Jim asked if Robby's Windsock could be moved further off the runway at Flying W. Gary may be able to do that.
Jim also expressed concern about RC planes and Drones near his Wahoo airport. We understand that they require permission from the airport owner to fly within 5 miles.
The Flynns announced that Lot 3 at Flying W was sold. The lot was then split between them and Deb Beach & Curt Morehouse (who will soon be building on Lot 2 to the east).
Congratulations to Gary & Jan Tukeva Emrick (no hyphens) for finally getting legally hitched on April 27th.
Fly-ins: Planning to fly to Deland for breakfast Saturday, May 14th .
Meeting adjourned 8:10 pm.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th 7pm at Beef O'Brady's.
