Treasurer Report – Vic Chewning
- The conversion to 501(c)(3) status is now complete. The old FOOLZ account was closed today.
- The club received the donation from the Ryan Ruano Foundation, via Vince Ruano, in the amount of $11,236.43 which is designated for our scholarship program.
- The club bank balance is now $14,249.25.
- Debit cards for the new account should be issued soon.
- Reminder: FOOLZ annual club membership dues ($12) and EAA membership numbers should be given to Vic Chewning. Make checks payable to “EAA Chapter 1489”. [There are also memberships for Associate (not an EAA member, not allowed to vote, $12 annual dues), and for Youth (associate member under 18, $5 annual dues).]
Old business:
- January 28th Fly-In – It seems most everyone is willing to work their same stations. Steve Flynn is Volunteer Coordinator. Please notify him if you would like a different assignment.
- There was also discussion about acknowledging the Ruano Foundation donation at the January Fly-in. Vince’s group may arrive in a helicopter, so Steve F. said that he would save a spot near the hangar. There may also be a piece of metal art donated by Annette’s husband to be auctioned off. (Annette is the waitress at Waller’s Restaurant who flies an ultralight.) We should have scholarship applications to hand out.
- Jim Connell reported that: He has not been contacted by anyone interested in being a Young Eagle, but there is some interest for Eagle flights (for people over 18-years old). There has not been a meeting of the scholarship committee since November. Scholarship recipients Noah and Rusty are still working towards their private pilot licenses.
- The membership agreed to host another breakfast fly-in on March 25th. Motion made and passed to make the fly-in a breakfast from 9-11am at Connell’s Wahoo airport.
New Business
- Motion made and passed that the 50/50 Raffle money is designated for the scholarship fund – even if the winner donates the prize back to the club.
- Jim C mentioned that his neighbor Dick Love (a 95-year old WWII pilot) wishes to donate $100 or more to the scholarship fund. We may need a form for large donations (such as the ones used by Goodwill, perhaps).
- The new Medical Rule was announced. It now allows you to complete an online medical refresher course exam every two years. And there is a 4-page form that your doctor fills out for you to keep.
- Barb noted that the New Year’s Eve party was a success and that everyone had a good time.
Meeting adjourned 8:07pm.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th 7pm at Beef O’Brady’s.
